five months

You're five months. You can roll from your tummy to your back.I found your first tooth exactly on your five month birthday. You woke up with
a sleepy smile that
crept across your face.
Then I saw
a little tooth had finally
found it's place.
-author unknownYou know who your mama is and lock eyes with me when someone else is holding you. You're eating cereal, vegetables and fruits three times a day and a bottle before bed. You wake up in the morning between 7 and 8.
When 8pm comes around, you're done...ready for your bed.

You're in size three diapers and three to six month clothes.

You can sit with support and pull yourself forward in your highchair.

Caedmon's Lego Party

The inspiration for the invitation came from here. We celebrated Caedmon's 6th birthday on Saturday with a small party at our house. This boy LOVES Legos, so it wasn't hard to determine a fitting theme. He spends most of his time playing with Legos in his room....before school and as soon as he gets home, I find him here. I love his creativity and seeing what he comes up with.

It was fun searching the internet for ideas for the cake. I decided to make it a day ahead (in my mind thinking just in case something goes wrong). After pulling the cake out of the oven and letting it cool, I proceeded to flip it out of the pan...to make a long story short, it ended up crashing on the floor with cake flying everywhere. Luca had been taking a nap and was awakened by the crash and sound of my scream. I know, I should've taken a picture...with the ant issue we have right now and for my own sanity, I wanted to get it cleaned up as fast as possible. :) After taking a deep breath, cleaning up the mess and attending to my crying baby, I mixed up another cake and pressed forward. Isn't that how life is sometimes...people or circumstances knock us down and we feel discouraged and defeated. God picks up the pieces and can still make something beautiful if we keep pressing on and keep a positive attitude.

I still can't believe I have a six year old. Caedmon is growing up so fast and the older he gets the more I'm learning to let go a little more...and the more I realize that I can't protect him from everything. Now that he is in school everyday, there are many things that happen that I will never see...disappointments, hurts, negative influences and peer pressure. My job now is to be his biggest cheerleader and coach him along this journey of life to become the man God wants him to be. I want to get it right...this parenting thing...although I fail miserably so many times....I want to be the mom that God wants me to be and that Caedmon needs me to be...praying my way through. The inspiration for the birthday cake came from here.Caedmon continues to be the humor of our family. Along with his free-spirited personality comes a soft and sensitive heart that cares for others...if you can use strong and sensitive in the same sentence that is what he is. :) He loves traditions and when we're all together as family doing anything...especially with his cousins. He loves school and is continuing to improve with his reading skills. He is very creative...loves to draw and color and has quite a collection of drawings including turkeys, legos, indians, houses, sledding etc. When I asked him what his favorite subject was, he said Math. He loves food! Favorite food right now is rice and beans and pizza. He loves sports...especially the Colts...and is playing basketball on a team at our church. Happy 6th Birthday to my strong, sensitive, growing boy! I love you!

it's 2010!

Since our New Years Eve was spent having Christmas with Kevin's family, we decided to come home and go to bed at a decent time....which was fine with me...I like my sleep these days. :) And the very next day, we had company. So fun to have the Weber's at our house and especially on Joyce's birthday!Great-grandma giving Luca her sock monkey at our extended family Christmas the following Sunday. Great-grandma has made one of these for each of her great-grandchildren. It's been fun to see how creative she has gotten with them.

Time for solids!
Since Luca still has some spitting up issues, her Dr. recommended we go ahead and start her on solids to see if that would help. Well, we took it slow for the first few days because she wasn't liking it too much. Cereal was flyin' through the air...I don't even wanna think about how it will be when we start the carrots. :)
Let me tell you, it was a pretty big event when I fed her off a spoon for the first time. The kids were so excited...so fun to see them at the ages they are with their baby sister. Caedmon suggested I take this picture. :)Baby has become more mobile. We have the perfect floors for this Jeep that has been passed down to all my kids.
I've been putting Luca down for naps in her pack n play...partly because nap time for her is the same time as room time for Kaiya and partly because we'll be going to Chicago and I want her to get comfortable with it in a strange environment before we leave. One morning after I heard her wake up, I thought she was being a little too quiet for just waking up. Kaiya decided to keep her sister company. It was sweet to see them already laughing and playing together as sisters.

it's time to celebrate

Christmas break was jam packed full of celebrating this year. We celebrated Luca meeting her aunt Joyce for the first time.We celebrated the December and January birthdays on Kevin's side of the family. We declared it a pajama day on the Monday after Christmas.
We celebrated this big boy turning six. He chose to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast on his birthday. We celebrated the Weber's being in town by doing fun family activities together like sledding.

I think Grandpa B. had the most fun out of everyone.Aunt Sarah & KaiyaUncle Curt & OwenAnd we celebrated the blessing of family...babies being held, grandchildren finding new little hideouts in the basement, eggnog being sipped, conversations over meals, cousins playing together and making crafts, gifts being exchanged...this is the part of Christmas that I love. Three crazy sister-in-laws...I think our personalities shine through a bit in this picture. :) Sarah shared a natural teeth whitening secret and we all had to try it.
Caedmon reciting the Christmas story verses. Kevin and I got to play Mary and Joseph again at our family Christmas. Luca was baby Jesus in the manger...Grandma had the grandchildren bring paper hearts they had made with their names and place them in the manger.Me & my sweet nephew OwenThe grandchildren gift exchange
