Rainy Day Fun

Here's a great recipe for a very soft play dough that lasts a long time. The ingredients are simple and usually available in my cupboard. Perfect to make on a rainy day like today.

Play Dough

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
food coloring

Cook on medium heat until a ball forms (about 2 minutes). Remove from heat and knead in food coloring. Place in baggy or airtight container. It will last for several months.

I divided the dough in two and let the kids pick what color they wanted...yellow for Caedmon and pink for Kaiya today.

Here are some pictures to help me remember the beautiful sunny day that it was yesterday. The wheat in our field is just starting to change colors. Here's a funny quote from Kaiya this morning. As I was taking the sheets off my bed to wash them she asked me "did you pee in your bed, mommy?"

I love these pics. I am impressed by your skills, Sherri. And did you pee the bed again?? Mama, how are your kids supposed to train??
You better believe you'll see another copy on my blog - I see playdough in our rainy day future. However, I don't have cream of tartar in my cupboard (I'll have to buy it) Hee, hee.

What neat pictures once again! You have to teach me your methods :) Hmm no picture of crazy hat day last night :) Thanks for the playdough recipe...we will have to try it! And I love the quote from Kaiya...it seems like I wash the boys's sheets quite often due to that problem!

Seriously Sherri, You can do color blocking and now the cool black edges on the corners. I can't wait to see what you come up with on Suzanna and Isabella's pictures!

Thanks for the playdough recipe....We'll have to do that this afternoon. It's been raining here all day too. :( We were planning to be at the pool today.
